The directors of eleven IIMs met at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad on December 13, 2016, for PAN-IIM World Management Conference. On this occasion, they held discussions on the inclusion of SC/ST candidates into the faculty.
Various issues were discussed in the meet and Director of IIM-Kashipur indicated that a programme could be launched to train doctoral students from SC/ST category. Among other issues, the inclusion of SC/ST into faculty was also discussed.

Ashish Nanda, Director of IIM-Ahmedabad, mentioned that there is a need to possess a diverse faculty who have different life experiences. Therefore, the eligible candidates from the varied socio-economic backgrounds can be given a chance to teach the students at IIMs.
He further added that each and every IIM in the country is committed to representing the people of all the backgrounds through participation. On the other hand, IIMs too are maintaining standards in education. He appreciated the efforts that are being taken by IIM-Kashipur like organising a programme to train doctoral students from SC/ST category. For this purpose, the institute has also launched a special scholarship program.

Gautam Sinha, Director of IIM-Kashipur, indicated that the institute had launched a Fellowship Programme in Management (FPM) which gives an opportunity to doctoral students to become faculty in IIMs. The outcomes of the programme can be witnessed in the next five years.
Similarly, IIM Raipur has also launched an FPM programme for SC/ST students as per the directions which were given by HRD Ministry.
