Mr. Prashant Gupta, an IIT Delhi Alumnus Donates Rs 1 Cr for Quantum Computing Chair. He wishes to support the mission of the institute and also recognise the support of his family members in his success.

Prashant Gupta who is an alumnus of IIT Delhi of 1995 batch signed an MoU with the university to develop a chair named as Uma-Puruskar-Liril Gupta chair in Future Computing Technologies at IIT, Delhi. Professor V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, and Mr. Gupta signed an MoU.

Mr Prashant Gupta has earlier worked with reputed firms like McKinsey and Company, Emaar India as well as Aditya Birla Group. Presently, he is planning to launch a new entrepreneurial venture.

Rs. 1 Crore was donated by Prashant Gupta as the fund. The amount will be used to establish the chair. By donating the amount, Mr. Gupta wishes to support the mission of the institute and also recognise the support of his family members in his success.

The chair is developed to promote excellence in research specifically in the field of Quantum Computing and High-Performance Computing.

While addressing at IIT Delhi Mr. Gupta said that being a part of IIT Delhi was life-changing and his contribution is gratitude for the institute. Through this, he also wants to thank his family members who helped him to succeed in life. He also hopes that his contribution will help the institute progress in the area of Quantum Computing.

Director of IIT Delhi Prof V. Ramgopal Rao said that the institute encourages its alumni in every activity of the institute. They provide a platform for alumni to be actively engaged with the institute. He also added that they are happy that the alumni are interested in the activity conducted by the university.

Presently IIT Delhi has 50 Chair faculty positions supported by different sources, he added. The selection criteria for the chair will be based on a candidate who has an excellent research profile in Quantum Computing field of study.
