IIT Delhi saw a sharp rise in the number of companies that came for the campus placements this year. Maximum jobs were bagged by students of core subjects.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi broke its record of the last ten years in the number of placements grabbed by its students. This year, the students of IIT Delhi seized over 900 job offers from various employers in and outside of India. If the pre-placement offers are also included then the number shoots up to over 1,000. Pre-placement offers are given to students by companies where they work as an intern.
According to the reports, the number of companies that were a part of campus placements this year was 15% more than the total number of last year.
The highest number of offers was bagged by the students of core subjects like chemical, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering. They received 32% of the total offers. The core subject students were followed by students of Information Technology who grabbed 20 % of the total job offers. The remaining offers were from the fields of management, research and teaching, finance, analytics, consulting and other miscellaneous ones.

The government of India has deemed IIT Delhi as an Institution of Eminence. It made a place for itself in the top 100 institutions in the list of Global University Employability Ranking for 2018. Based on a survey which was done with 7,000 major businesses from across the world, the ranking lists 150 institutes on employability.

The placement season at IIT Delhi for the batch graduating in 2019 began in August 2018 and will end on 31st May 2019.
