In January 2018, IIT Kharagpur and Tata Medical Centre signed MoU to offer these collaborative courses. These courses were launched with an aim to produce skilled professionals in the respective fields. At present, the lack of trained professionals has become an obstruction to several healthcare units from investing in latest and expensive diagnostic machinery. The joint M.Sc-Ph.D course in the respective fields is expected to bring a new era in radiation therapy, medical image analysis, medical physics etc.
