IIT Kharagpur (Indian Institute of Technology) has announced the schedule for the entrance test conducted for the admission to M.Sc-Ph.D courses in: -
- Nuclear Medicine
- Medical Physics
- Medical Microbiology
IIT Kharagpur is offering these courses in collaboration with Tata Medical Centre. As per the official schedule, the entrance exam for the above-mentioned courses will be conducted on June 17, 2018. Recently, IIT Kharagpur has finalised the eligibility criteria for these courses in consultation with the New Town Hospital. The eligibility criteria will be made available on the official website soon.

After the entrance exam, the names of the qualified candidates will be published on June 24, 2018. The admission process for these courses will begin from July 13, 2018.
The duration of M.Sc course is two years. After the successful completion of M.Sc course, students might be admitted to the Ph.D course as per IIT norms. Students who choose medical physics as a specialisation under M.Sc-Ph.D course will be given an opportunity to take up a one-year paid internship at Tata Medical Centre.

In January 2018, IIT Kharagpur and Tata Medical Centre signed MoU to offer these collaborative courses. These courses were launched with an aim to produce skilled professionals in the respective fields. At present, the lack of trained professionals has become an obstruction to several healthcare units from investing in latest and expensive diagnostic machinery. The joint M.Sc-Ph.D course in the respective fields is expected to bring a new era in radiation therapy, medical image analysis, medical physics etc.
