IIT Kharagpur Students Get President of India Gold Medal
Highlights: IIT is celebrating its two-day convocation and the convocation started from yesterday, 31 July’ 16.

IIT is celebrating its two-day convocation and the convocation started from yesterday, 31 July’ 16.
On the first day, two students were given the President of India Gold Medal, both of the students were from IIT Kharagpur. IIT Kharagpur is the oldest and the very first Indian Institute of Technology in India.
The medal was awarded to the students as they had the highest score, their CGPA was 9.75. The Gold Medal of President of India is the biggest honour that is given to a student during convocation. Both the students belonged to the computer science and engineering department.
This is the very first time that this honour is given to students of IIT Kharagpur and that too to two students. There are ways to break the tie as they had an equal score but the governors decided to give the award to both students because both of them worked very hard.
The name of the students are:

  • Soham Das, Student of Computer Science and Engineering
  • Prithwish Mukherjee, Student of Computer Science and Engineering

Admission into IIT Kharagpur is through JEE which is the Joint Entrance Examination. The institute provides every course in engineering and a Student of IIT Kharagpur made a video on “Game of Thrones” which went viral. So, now you know it's not all work, it's play as well.
