In a bid to give more opportunity to institutes located at the North-East India, IIT Kharagpur has decided to give the students of these institutes more exposure by giving a special opportunity to participate at its next techno-management fest 'Kshitij' scheduled to be held between January 27- 29 January, 2017.

For this, the institute will conduct a survey of the institutes in the North-Eastern region. A member of the organizing committee said that IIT Kharagpur will approach technical institutes and students from North-East to join this 14th edition of the festival. The member added that in the previous editions of the 'Kshitij', they had not touched the institutes from North- East. For the first time, talent from the North East will get an opportunity to shine amongst mainstream colleges of India. The participants will get ample opportunity here to showcase their talent during the mega festival.

The participation formalities for 'Kshitij' has already begun and the festival will be held between January 27, 2017 and conclude on January 29, 2017. The techo-management fest is a concoction of creativity & technical know-how. Workshops, conducted by technical giants will also be a huge part of the festival. Some of the leading companies who will participate in the fest include Deloitte, IBM, Texas Instruments etc.

Around 70, 000 students from 1400 college across the country are expected to participate in the event. A total prize money worth Rs. 65 Lakhs will be given out as awards & rewards at the fest. The event has been recognized as one the leading events of Asia. Several international organisations have recognised and patronised the festival and leading among them are:

  • South Asia Youth Environment Network (SAYEN)
  • UNESCO
  • Centre for Environment Education (CEE).
