IIT Madras Launches Data Platform for Efficient Infrastructure Development

The infrastructure in India is among the largest infrastructure networks in the world. To improve the quality of the Indian infrastructure network, the Government of India has aligned itself with the state governments as well as different local agencies. To help the government in the venture, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has introduced a Data Platform of Integrated Database on Infrastructure Projects (IDIP). The launch of the data platform is done so as to direct the resources towards boosting the development of infrastructure as well as imbibe efficient decision-making skills between the various stakeholders in the sector of infrastructure.

The programme had been launched during the World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR) which had been held on 29th May 2019. The conference, 15th edition of its kind, had been held in the premises of IIM Bombay. The session had been focused on the Public-Private Partnership in the Transport Sector of India.

The data platform on the Integrated Database on Infrastructure Projects had been launched in the presence of various prominent members of the family of Indian Institutes of Technology such as the Director of IIM Bangalore, Prof G Raghuram as well as a faculty from IIT Madras like Prof Thillai Rajan A and Prof Swapnil Garg who is an associate professor at the Indian Institute Management Indore.
