Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) and General Electric Company- GE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU will allow GE to use the translational technologies developed by IIT-M during the gas tribune component test facility.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Professor. Ravindra Gettu Dean Industrial Consultancy & Sponsored Research- IIT and Akhilesh Mishra, Engineering, GE Power.
Prof. I. Sujith, Chair Professor Aerospace Engineering, IIT-M said that this is a great opportunity and will be beneficial for both institute and GE. GE will provide digital technologies for smart gas tribunes.
Akhilesh Mishra, Engineering GE said that the research of IIT-M Professors and their respective team is remarkable. The research done by IIT Madras in Thermoacoustics will bring radical changes in existing analytics in the respective area. Once these changes are introduced in a lab environment, it will improve risk assessment and will help in cost saving.
He further said the team is one of the famous names in thermoacoustics and they have been a part of several international collaborations. The group has made some groundbreaking discoveries in the field of thermoacoustics.
The team of General Electric said they have been forming several collaborations with top researchers for better industry-academia partnerships. Such engagements will transcend the boundaries in the field of Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and others.
IIT Madras has many such collaborations with different industries for research and innovation purpose and to strengthen its industry-academia relationships
