IIT Mandi Students to be Honoured with IEEE Award

Three prestigious awards given by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Industry Application Society, U.S. have been bagged by the students of the Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Mandi. The Awards are given under the contests of Chapter and Membership Development (CMD) in IEEE in Continued Outstanding Performance Student Branch Chapter, Outstanding Student Branch Chapter Chair and Web Contest categories.

The award giving ceremony will be held from 29th September 2019 to 3rd October 2019 in Baltimore of the US during the annual meet of IEEE IAS. The recipients who will receive the awards are, Rajesh Pindoriya, Ph.D Scholar and Student Chapter Chair 2019; Adil Usman, Ph.D Scholar and Student Chapter Chair 2018; Jhalak Chaudhary, 2nd Year B.Tech student in Computer Science Engineering and Utkarsh Jain, 2nd year B.Tech student in Computer Science Engineering of IIT Mandi.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), in USA which is the largest global technical professional organisation headquartered in New York, is composed of Scientists, Engineers and other professionals, who have interests in the sector of electrical and computer sciences, engineering, and other related disciplines. It is dedicated for fostering technological excellence and innovation for humanitarian benefits. It does it by publishing transactions, sponsoring conferences, developing standards, journals, magazines and also through its educational programs.

Adil Usman, who is the Ph.D scholar and competent of Student Chapter Chair 2019 will be awarded the prestigious award titled IEEE IAS CMD Officer for his exceptional and extraordinary contributions to the IEEE IAS Chapter 2019. This award is enlisted in the top category award sand is given to only one individual across the globe.

With the inclusion of Usman, the Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Mandi now has 105 IEEE IAS members.

The ‘Student Chapter’ of IEEE Industrial Application Society (IAS) was founded on 2018 with Dr. Bharat Singh Rajpurohit the Associate Professor at the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering in IIT Mandi as the batch counsellor, Dr. Ankush Bag and Dr. Hitesh Srimali of the same designation in IIT Mandi as the Advisors of IEEE IAS Student Chapter IIT Mandi. Till now, the student chapter has held more than 100 IEEE Awareness and Outreach programmes, Seminars, Workshops and Technical Talks.

Explaining about the IEEE IAS Student Chapter recognition of IIT Mandi, Dr. Rajpurohit said that he is immensely happy the voluntary efforts of the students got them international recognition. Even in the undergraduate levels, the students who got the award will bring them more exposure and recognition internationally.
