Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) and Macquarie University Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 17, 2017, to develop better academic relations. The main agenda of the MoU is the development of bi-lateral research through the collaboration of the two institutes.
The key research areas on which IIT Roorkee and Macquarie University will be working are telecommunications - wireless technologies, optical devices, networking, and communication, power electronics, mechatronics, environmental science, biomedical engineering, imaging, instrumentation, and sensing.

Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University Australia, Prof Barbara Messerle said that the MoU between IIT Ropar and Macquarie University is a great example that international collaboration between colleges and institutes is possible. The collaboration will benefit both the institutions and will lead to the development of new technology and ideas and will encourage the students to broaden their perspective to create something new.
The MoU also supports various interactive sessions and activities for both faculty and students. It also includes various exchange programmes, joint conferences, group activities and academic sessions and meetings.

Prof S.K Das, Director of Institute IIT Ropar also expressed his views on the new venture between the universities. He said that this venture is such an honor for them to be associated with such prestigious university. He further added that the MoU will be of great help in academic front and in the research work. This journey will help explore students new dimensions and pathways for themselves.
