Important Instructions Regarding TNEA 2022 Special Category Counselling

TNEA 2022 Special Category Counselling: For Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, a special reservation is provided for Special Categories, and their counselling process is also held separately. According to the revised TNEA 2022 Counselling Schedule, the counselling for Special Reservation categories will be held from August 20 to 23, 2022 while the counselling for general students will be conducted afterwards from August 25 to October 21.

The categories eligible for TNEA Special Reservation 2022 are:

1. 7.5% reservation for government school students
2. Son/daughter of ex-servicemen
3. Differently-abled persons
4. Eminent sports person

After the publication of the TNEA Rank List 2022, the Director of Higher Education Department, Dr. T Purushothaman announced that the counselling for the special reservation categories will be held online only. He reiterated that the differently-abled students, along with others under the special reservation categories as stated above, need not visit the Director of Technical Education or Anna University in Person. All counselling activities will be conducted online.

TNEA 2022 Special Category Counselling: Important Instructions

1. To avail the special reservation, appropriate supporting documents are to be uploaded and candidates failing to do so will not be considered under the special reservation categories. These documents are:

• For 7.5% reservation for government school students: Proof for government school study details from 6th to 12th.
• For son/daughter of ex-servicemen: Certificate from the Department of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare of Tamil Nadu, along with discharge certificates and e-servicemen ID of their parent.
• For differently-abled persons: Certificate from the Medical Board of the District mentioning the extent of disability in percentage signed by a minimum of 3 doctors.
• For eminent sports person: Original sports certificates along with appropriate forms as given in Annexure III of the TNEA 2022 Information Brochure.

2. Candidates eligible for special reservation categories must also satisfy the general eligibility criteria for counselling.

3. The special reservation applicable will only be as per the special reservation category selected by the candidate while filling out the application form. The candidate will not be eligible for other special reservation categories.

4. The counselling for Eminent Sports Persons, Differently-Abled Persons, Sons/Daughters of Ex-Servicemen, Vocational Candidates, Supplementary Counselling, and Counselling for Vacant Seats of SCA will be held in online mode only. These applicants must ensure that their counselling activities such as choice filling/locking, allotment, etc. must be done through the official TNEA websites only viz., https://tneaonline.org and https://thdte.gov.in.

5. Candidates claiming reservation under differently-abled persons/persons with benchmark disability must meet the eligibility criteria of the concerned disability as given by TNEA authorities.

6. Admission under Special Reservation Categories

• Admission under 7.5% reservation for government school students will be based on their respective communal reservation.
• Admission under son/daughter of ex-servicemen and under differently-abled persons will be based on regular rankings and normalization of marks.
• Admission under the eminent sports person quota will be based on the total marks obtained for achievements in sports as per the given guidelines.
