Indian Science Congress Draws to Close with Talk on Ayushman Bharat

On Tuesday, the Indian Science Congress summit drew to end with a talk on Ayushman Bharat. The summit was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on January 3 and was the 17th edition of summit in India.

On Tuesday, the annual five-day event of National Science Congress ended in Bengaluru. The event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, which was also the 107th edition for the ISC summit. The Indian Science Congress event was initiated on January 3rd in Bangalore and unlike other editions, the summit completed without any controversies.

This year’s Indian Science Congress witnessed talks related to various government programs which have been introduced by the Indian Government. Meanwhile, the last day of the summit was dedicated to the talk session on Ayushman Bharat program which was launched by the Modi government in the year 2018.

former ISRO scientist L Satyamurth, along with two other doctors were featured to talk on the program session titled as ‘New Paradigm in Health Care System of India under Ayushman Bharat’. During the session, they not only talked about the significance of implementing the program in India but also discussed in terms of telemedicine initiatives in India.

During the session, Styamurthi stated that the Ayushman Bharat program is an initiative intended to provide high-class healthcare for maternal and child health as well as non-communicable diseases in India. He further added that apart from the healthcare services, the program is also implemented to provide free diagnostic and essential drugs to people.

In context to the Indian Science, Congress summit organised, Dr B S Ratta, a paediatric surgeon from Pune said that the initiative taken by the Modi government is intended to reduce the cost indulged with expensive healthcare services in India and medical loans. This program is a great step to achieve universal health coverage and sustainable development in India for the future.
