The Chinese government will allow international students in Chinese universities to take up part-time jobs during their studies. The part-time jobs will be a source of experience to graduates so that the chances of employability will be more.

International Students Can Now Take Up Part-Time Jobs in China

The government of China will allow international students pursuing a variety of courses at the Chinese Universities to take up part-time jobs during their studies. The decision will make the higher education system in the country more attractive. Chinese Ministry of Education has given clarity in this regard.

The ministry has been taking up several exploratory measures allowing international students in Shanghai and Beijing to take up internships or part-time jobs off-campus. However, students need approval from their academic institutes and the entry & exit administrative authorities to take up part-time jobs.

As per 2016 statistics, over 4.42 lakh international students from 205 countries were pursuing higher studies in various educational institutes in China. Out of the total international students in China, 11.07% receive government scholarships. On the other hand, 15,000 Indian students are pursuing higher studies in China enrolled mostly in medical stream. The medical courses in China are popular and cheaper compared to private medical colleges in India.

China has been trying to attract a high number of international students as a part of its diplomatic push to increase global influence.

The changes in visa policies will open up more opportunities for international students to undertake part-time jobs during their studies and increase work opportunities after graduation. The part-time jobs will be a source of experience to graduates so that the chances for employability will be more.
