IPE Weightage in AP EAMCET 2026 to Continue: No changes in syllabusCollegeDekho News Desk, Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has confirmed that the weightage system of Intermediate Public Examination (IPE) will be continued in AP EAMCET 2026, so the candidates who are aspiring for admission into engineering, agriculture, and pharmacy are given clarity and relief. Officials have also said there will be no change in the syllabus, which means students can keep studying as per the Intermediate syllabus without any changes. APSCHE announced the AP EAMCET 2026 Exam Date on December 22, 2025. This year, the dates were announced in advance to provide additional preparation time for students.
What is the IPE Weightage in AP EAMCET 2026?
The final AP EAMCET merit rank is calculated under the present continuing system by taking 75% weightage for the AP EAPCET normalised marks and 25% weightage for the Intermediate Public Examination marks. The intermediate marks considered are from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (And Biology, where applicable), and these are normalised before they are added to the marks scored in the entrance exam. This means that your entrance marks would have a higher weightage, and your marks in the board exam will also be considered.
The Syllabus for AP EAMCET is completely based on the Intermediate syllabus, which was followed last year. According to the previous year’s scheme, the AP EAMCET entrance exam is of 3 hours and has 160 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), which are of a uniform marking scheme. All questions carry equal marks. The distribution of questions between the subjects is as follows:
- Mathematics: 80 questions
- Physics: 40 questions
- Chemistry: 40 questions
Continuing this weightage system further ensures the fair assessment of students, making them concentrate on AP EAMCET preparation while also performing consistently well in Intermediate exams. The confirmation that there would be no changes in the syllabus also brings down the anxiety levels of students and coaching centres.
Ramu Ragi, a senior lecturer of Intermediate in Vijayawada, suggested, '
students who will be appearing for AP EAMCET 2026 are advised to strengthen the concepts of Intermediate-level subjects and also to solve AP EAMCET questions of past years regularly
'. He further added, '
The chances of repetition of questions from previous years' papers are high in AP EAMCET 2026. Either the direct question or the concept gets repeated
, he concluded.
Bhargavi, an Intermediate student from Vijayawada, said '
25% IPE weightage in AP EAMCET is really a helpful move for the exam aspirants. If we score less in the entrance exam due to the difficulty level of the question paper and score well in IPE, it will help in maintaining a good ranking in AP EAMCET
.
Candidates are advised to be updated through the official APSCHE and AP EAMCET websites for the latest information on notification for 2026, application process and schedule of exam, etc. However, with the syllabus and weightage remaining the same, students can rest assured to prepare with a clear understanding and strategy.
