  • 03 30 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

What Next if 98.3 Percentile?: Prepare for JEE Advanced 2026

You can afford to devote 70% of your time to JEE Advanced level problems because your NIT seat is essentially guaranteed. You must now become proficient in the "multi-concept" application needed for the IITs, even though your conceptual understanding is obviously good at this point.

  • 03 00 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

What Next if 98.3 Percentile?: Attempt for Session 2

The 99+ Push (Session 2): A 99+ percentile is just 15–20 marks away. You would almost certainly get a CSE seat in a top-10 NIT if you scored in the 99.2+ percentile. For the next forty-five days, concentrate solely on your first session's weak points.

  • 02 30 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

College and Branch Admission for 98.3 Percentile (2/2)

Check the details regarding the chances for admissions for the 98.3 Percentile:

    • High likelihood for Electrical, Mechanical, and ECE at Mid-Tier NITs (Rourkela, Jaipur, Allahabad, and Calicut) (particularly with Home State quota).
    • GFTIs: You are qualified for the top branches of prestigious GFTIs such as BIT Mesra or PEC Chandigarh.

  • 02 00 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

College and Branch Admission for 98.3 Percentile (1/2)

Check the details regarding the chances for admissions for the 98.3 Percentile:

    • Core fields like Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical are expected at Top-Tier NITs (Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal). Unless you have a Home State quota, CSE/ECE in these three particular areas may be difficult.
    • Top IIITs: IIIT Guwahati, IIIT Vadodara, IIIT Kota, and IIIT Pune offer excellent chances for CSE/IT.

  • 01 30 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

What can you expect for 98.3 Percentile?

An outstanding score of 98.3 percentile in JEE Main 2026 formally moves you from "qualifying" to "securing" a spot in prestigious national institutes. Out of the more than 14.5 lakh applicants who participated in Session 1, you rank in the top 1.7%. AIR Prediction: 24,500–27,500. For the majority of NITs and IIITs for core branches, and frequently even top-tier branches, this rank is far within the closing ranks.

  • 01 00 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

College and Admissions for 93.7th Percentile (2/2)

    • IIITs & GFTIs: Assam University, SLIET Longowal, or PEC Chandigarh (lower branches) are a few examples of GFTIs with specialised tech branches where you have a strong opportunity.
    • Home State Advantage: You can use state counselling (JAC Delhi, REAP) to gain admission to highly respected state-funded universities if you're from a state like Telangana, Rajasthan, or Delhi.

  • 12 30 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

College and Admissions for 93.7th Percentile (1/2)

    • Your seat, which is in the 93.7th percentile, is mostly determined by your category and "Home State" (HS) quota:
    • General Category (Other State): It is unlikely that top-tier NITs will admit students to CSE/ECE. But in the CSAB (Spot) Rounds, you are a great contender for Core Branches (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Metallurgy) at Newer NITs (such as NIT Agartala, NIT Srinagar, and NIT Manipur).

  • 12 00 PM IST - 12 Feb'26

    What does 93.7 percentile mean?

In the first session of JEE Main 2026, a score of the 93.7th percentile is considered competitive and strategic. You rank 6.3% higher than any other candidate who showed up for your shift. Rank Estimate: Between 81,900 to 85,000. Final Rank Projection: Your rank may hover around 97,000 if additional unique applicants sign up for April.

  • 11 30 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

Has JEE Main 2026 Final Answer Key date been announced?

No, the final answer key date has not been announced yet. However, as per the pattern, the answer key is likely to be released a day ahead of the results or a few hours before the result is announced. So, candidates will have to wait until the final answer key is released to know their scores.

  • 11 00 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

Why has JEE Main Result 2026 been postponed?

NTA has not yet disclosed the exact reason for the delay in the JEE Main Result 2026. However, experts doubt that the delay is due to errors in the answer key. It is a probable cause and is likely to be true. Hence, candidates must wait fora few more days for the results now.

  • 10 30 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

JEE Main Result 2026 on Feb 16!

NTA has postponed the result date for JEE Main 2026 Session 1. As per the revised date, the result will be announced on February 16, 2026. The final answer key is most likely to be released by February 15 late night or by morning of February 16, 2026.

  • 10 00 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

JEE Advanced 2026 chances for admission at 93 Percentile

    • The Cutoff Reality: It is anticipated that the General category qualifying cutoff in 2026 will be between 93.2 and 93.6.
    • The Status: You are on the edge if you are at precisely 93.0. To secure your spot in the JEE Advanced exam, you need to aim for a slightly higher mark during the April session.

  • 09 30 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

Admission Chances for 93 Percentile (2/2)

    • GFTIs: Assam University, SLIET Longowal, or PEC Chandigarh (lower branches) are among the institutions for which you are a strong contender.
    • OBC/EWS Category: You stand a far better chance of getting into mid-tier NITs' main branches (Mechanical/Chemical).
    • SC/ST Category: Top branches (CSE, IT, and ECE) in mid-to-high rank NITs are widely accessible.

  • 09 00 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

Admission Chances for 93 Percentile (1/2)

    • General Category: NITs: It is challenging to gain direct admission to prestigious NITs. During the CSAB (Spot) Rounds, you have an opportunity to enrol in more recent NITs (NIT Mizoram, Srinagar, Nagaland) in fields like production, metallurgy, or civil.
    • IIITs: For specific tech areas, look for more recent IIITs (such as IIIT Bhagalpur or Manipur).

  • 08 30 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

What can you expect for 93 Percentile?

A strong accomplishment that puts you in the top 7% of all applicants is a JEE Main 2026 score in the 93rd percentile. This score, however, is frequently referred to as the "Threshold Score" for students in the General category because it is high enough to get them into the next round but falls just short of getting them into prestigious government universities.

  • 08 00 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

Admission Chances for 97 Percentile (2/2)

    • Top IIITs: A number of respectable IIITs, such as IIIT Una, IIIT Bhagalpur, or IIIT Sri City, provide IT and Computer Science (CSE) programs.
    • Home State Advantage: Your 97th percentile may be enough to get you into CSE or IT in your home state's NIT, DTU, or NSUT if you're from a state like Punjab, Delhi, or Gujarat.

  • 07 30 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

Admission Chances for 97 Percentile (1/2)

    • Top 10 NITs: Although you would have to settle for "Core" branches like mechanical, chemical, or civil engineering, your chances of getting into NIT Rourkela, NIT Calicut, or NIT Kurukshetra are extremely good.
    • Mid-Tier NITs: At institutions like NIT Durgapur, NIT Jamshedpur, or NIT Hamirpur, you can easily obtain a degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Communication (ECE).

  • 07 00 AM IST - 12 Feb'26

What can you expect for 97 Percentile?

An extremely high score of 97th percentile in JEE Main 2026 puts you in the top 3% of applicants nationwide. It is frequently referred to as the "Gateway to the Top NITs," since it puts you in a position where you have a lot of negotiating power during counselling, leaving the ambiguous middle ground behind.

What to do if not satisfied with JEE Main 2026 Scorecard?

If you are not satisfied with the JEE Main 2026 scores, it is best to appear for the Session 2 exam, the registration for which is ongoing. Appearing for Session 2 will improve the chances of increasing the percentile. Note that the best of the two will be considered to declare ranks.

  • 05 30 PM IST - 11 Feb'26

Is admission with 50th percentile in the JEE Main Result 2026 possible?

In JEE Main 2026, a 50 percentile means that you outperformed 50% of the candidates during your shift. Although most people find it tough to get into prestigious universities like NITs and IIITs because of this score, it is not a guarantee. The All India Rank (AIR) for a 50 percentile is around 7,75,000.

  • 05 00 PM IST - 11 Feb'26

Which colleges will be available for 60 Percentile in JEE Main 2026?

You have outperformed 60% of the applicants in your shift if you scored in the 60th percentile for JEE Main 2026. It is anticipated that there will be approximately 15.5 lakh unique applicants, which corresponds to an All India Rank (AIR) of roughly 6,00,000 to 6,20,000. At this stage, your focus switches from "Top Government Institutes" to private universities and state-level colleges.

  • 04 30 PM IST - 11 Feb'26

What are the chances to secure admission with 70 Percentile in JEE Mains 2026?

A "moderate" score in JEE Main 2026 is defined as falling within the 70th percentile. It is nevertheless a qualifying score for many students in the reserved category and provides access to several public and private engineering institutes, even if it is typically insufficient for admission into the prestigious NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs for applicants in the general category. A 70th percentile corresponds to about a 4,50,000 All India Rank (AIR).

  • 04 00 PM IST - 11 Feb'26

What are the possibilities for admission with 80 percentile in the JEE Main Result 2026?

In JEE Main 2026, an 80th percentile is a very strong score for reserved categories and a route to several respectable state and private universities, but it usually does not grant admission to the top-tier NITs for kids in the general category. An 80th percentile equates to an All India Rank (AIR) of roughly 3,00,000 to 3,20,000, with an expected 15.5 lakh unique candidates in 2026.

  • 03 30 PM IST - 11 Feb'26

What are chances for admission with 98 Percentile in JEE Main 2026?

A JEE Main 2026 score in the 98th percentile is a great result. It signifies the change from "competitive student" to "elite-tier student" and puts you in the "Top 2%" of all applicants nationwide." AIR is expected to be between 25,000 and 28,000. Instead of CSE, admission to the Top 10 NITs should be available for branches like Electronics (ECE), Electrical, or Mechanical.

  • 03 00 PM IST - 11 Feb'26

What does 95 percentile in JEE Main Result 2026 mean?

A strong, "above-average" score in the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 is a 95 percentile. It means that you outperformed 95% of the applicants who showed up for your particular shift. The estimated AIR ranges from 65,000 to 75,000. In fields like mechanical, civil, chemical, or metallurgical, admission will be available to mid-tier NITs (Jalandhar, Durgapur, and Raipur) as well as more recent IIITs (Kota, Una).

JEE Advanced 2026: Top 2,50,000 Rule

In India, only roughly 2.5 lakh students are permitted to take the JEE Advanced exam. In essence, the qualifying cutoff is the 2,50,001st student's percentile on the common merit list. Thus, the top 2.5 lakh students, out of a total of 10 lakh, correspond to approximately the 75th percentile. The top 2.5 lakh pupils, out of a total of 15 lakh, correspond to roughly the 83rd percentile. This implies that the percentile needed to qualify rises in tandem with the number of candidates.

What is the safe score for JEE Main 2026 Session 1?

While 99.5–99.9+ is required for CSE at top NITs/IIITs, a good percentile in JEE Main 2026 Percentile versus College for top institutes is often 99+. Typically, a percentile of 98 or more is enough to get into JEE Advanced with ease. Hence, if you score above 98 percentile, start preparing for JEE Advanced.

CollegeDekho Experts' Take: What this result means for Drop-year students? (2)

You may not be in your desired field (such as CSE) or among the top five NITs, but you have a decent seat if your score was in the 95–97th percentile. The "Tier-2" bracket includes you. Aiming for a "score booster" in Session 2 will help you reach the 99+ percentile.

  • 07 00 PM IST - 10 Feb'26

CollegeDekho Experts' Take: What this result means for Drop-year students? (1)

    • The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 result is sometimes a stressful time for repeaters and drop-year students. You've spent a whole extra year studying for this test, so the outcome serves as a crucial "reality check."
    • If your percentile score was 98.5+, you've successfully guaranteed a spot in a prestigious NIT or IIIT. It indicates that your "drop year" has already been profitable.

  • 06 30 PM IST - 10 Feb'26

CollegeDekho Experts' Take: What this result means for Tier-2 students? (3)

    • A 96–97 percentile frequently grants access to Tier-1 college branches (such as DTU and NSUT) that would otherwise require a 99 percentile for students with a strong Home State quota (such as Delhi, Maharashtra, or Telangana).
    • With around 14.5 lakh applicants in 2026, a rank below approximately 70,000 corresponds to a 95+ percentile. This essentially ensures a spot in a mid-tier NIT or Government Funded Technical Institute (GFTI).

  • 06 00 PM IST - 10 Feb'26

CollegeDekho Experts' Take: What this result means for Tier-2 students? (2)

    • The main applicants for prestigious universities that rank slightly behind the prestigious Top-7 NITs are Tier-2 candidates
    • NIT Rourkela, NIT Jaipur, NIT Durgapur, NIT Calicut, and prestigious IIITs (such as IIIT Pune, Jabalpur, or Gwalior) are the target colleges.
    • If you score in this range, you are a strong contender for Computer Science (CSE) in mid-level NITs or "Newer" IIITs, but you may not be accepted at NIT Trichy or Surathkal.

  • 05 40 PM IST - 10 Feb'26

CollegeDekho Experts' Take: What this result means for Tier-2 students? (1)

Different shifts in Session 1 had varying degrees of difficulty. Based on the marks, NTA calculates the percentile using a Normalisation Process.
