Jadavpur University has decided to undertake research in Nano Science and Mobile & Innovative Computing under Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) scheme. Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Professor Suranjan Das revealed that the varsity is implementing the second phase of the PURSE scheme and the central government has made an allocation of Rs. 50 crore for research activities. Therefore, the varsity is undertaking research in frontier areas like Cognitive Science, Nano Science, Advanced Materials and Devices, Mobile and Innovative Computing, he added.

Adding further, Professor Suranjan Das revealed that Jadavpur University had successfully completed the research projects under Department of Science and Technology-Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (DST-PURSE). With the success, Jadavpur University has been selected for the second phase of the research project with more emphasis on science and technology, he revealed.
The VC also highlighted that Jadavpur University has emerged successful in completing Phase-II of the World Bank-funded TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) for procuring industry-institute interactions, faculty development, equipment and learning resources. After the evaluation, Jadavpur University has been ranked as one of the best performing institutes under this programme, he explained.

Recently, Jadavpur University has introduced an in-house e-governance system, i.e., ‘Jadavpur University Management System’ as a part of the ‘University with Potential for Excellence’ scheme. Tasting the success in a bunch of research activities, Jadavpur University is termed as one of the best universities in India in terms of research put. In NIRF Rankings 2017, Jadavpur University bagged the top spot for its research output.
