Jammu University Organises Workshop on Placement Strategy for MBA Students

The Placement Cell of Jammu University, in association with the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance Cell organised a workshop on Placement Strategy exclusively for MBA students. Various business schools of Jammu took part in the workshop. Principal Resource person of the workshop was Chief Mentor of Reliance Industries Limited, Mr. Partha Pratim Dasgupta.

On this occasion, Mr. Dasgupta spoke on the rapid changing of job profiles pointing out that B-Schools are currently engaged in training people for jobs that do not exist and imparting training in technologies that were either obsolete or near obsolescence. He also presented two case studies in this regard. Between the two case studies, the first one involves the University of New South Wales and the other on Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur. He asked the participants of the workshop whether they had undertaken any of the steps adopted by these institutions.

Mr. Dasgupta also interacted with the students of various B-Schools. Faculty members and students attended the workshop.

Dean of Students Placement at Jammu University, Prof. Dipankar Sengupta delivered the Welcome Address. He introduced the theme of the workshop and focused on various difficulties faced by the universities in placing the students. He further pointed that all B-Schools must come up with a placement strategy for improving placement ratio and quality of jobs offered. Prof. Sengupta also pointed that placement percentage of the B-Schools is one of the important aspects that will influence the rankings.

The workshop witnessed the participation of renowned professors from various B-Schools and universities across the state.
