Difference Between NTA Score and Percentage
A 99 NTA Score does not mean you got 99% marks. It means 99% of the candidates who sat in your specific shift scored equal to or less than you. You could get a 99 percentile with 60% of the actual marks if the paper was exceptionally difficult.
11 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Why "Raw Score" is Not Visible on the Scorecard?
The NTA Scorecard only displays the Percentile, not the actual marks (out of 300). This is to prevent confusion caused by the normalization process. To calculate your raw score, you must manually compare your response sheet with the Final Answer Key.
10 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Digilocker and UMANG App Access for Scorecards
If the official website (jeemain.nta.nic.in) crashes due to high traffic, students can access their digital scorecards via the Digilocker or UMANG app. You will need your Application Number and the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
09 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Expected Qualifying Cutoff for JEE Advanced 2026
Based on the increased number of unique registrations this year (estimated at 12.5 lakh+), the cutoff percentile to qualify for JEE Advanced is expected to rise slightly. Experts predict a cutoff of 93.3+ for General, 79+ for OBC-NCL, and 52+ for SC categories.
08 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Normalization Fairness: How NTA Balances "Hard" vs "Easy" Shifts
Since exams are held on different days, some papers are naturally harder. The Normalization process ensures that a student scoring 170 in a "Hard" shift can get the same percentile as a student scoring 210 in an "Easy" shift. The percentile represents your relative performance against others in your specific shift only.
07 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
The Best-of-Two Score Calculation for All India Ranks (AIR)
The AIR (All India Rank) is not released today. It will only be released after the Session 2 (April) results. The NTA will take the highest NTA score from either Session 1 or Session 2 for each candidate to compile the final merit list.
06 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Understanding the "State of Eligibility" vs. "State of Residence"
Your JEE Main rank card mentions a "State of Eligibility." This is determined by where you passed your Class 12th exam, not where you live. This is crucial for the 50% Home State quota in NITs. If you live in Delhi but went to school in Kota, your State of Eligibility is Rajasthan.
05 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Impact of the "No Optional Questions" Rule on 2026 Scores
For the 2026 session, NTA removed the option to choose 5 out of 10 questions in Section B (Numerical Value Questions). This means students had to answer all questions without choice. Early data suggests this has slightly lowered the "Raw Score" required to hit the 99th percentile compared to 2024-2025.
04 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Session 2 Registration: No New Application Needed for Existing Users
Candidates who appeared for Session 1 do not need to fill out a fresh application for the April attempt. They can simply log in with their Session 1 credentials, select the paper (Paper 1 or 2), choose the cities, and pay the examination fee. The window for this is expected to close by early March 2026.
03 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Physics and Chemistry: The Secondary Tie-Breaking Hierarchy
Should the Maths scores also be identical, the tie-breaker moves to Physics, followed by Chemistry. If all three subject scores are the same, the NTA now prioritizes the candidate with the lower ratio of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers across all subjects.
02 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Mathematics to be the Primary Tie-Breaker in 2026
If two students achieve the exact same 7-decimal percentile, the NTA’s automated system first looks at the NTA Score in Mathematics. The candidate with the higher percentile in Maths is awarded the higher rank. This makes Mathematics the most "valuable" subject in the JEE Main hierarchy for 2026.
01 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
The "7-Decimal Rule" for JEE Main Ranking Explained
To prevent thousands of students from ending up with the same rank, the NTA calculates the NTA Score (Percentile) up to 7 decimal places. This precision is calculated using a specific formula: (100 x Number of candidates appeared in the ‘Session’ with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate) / Total number of the candidates appeared in the ’Session’. This ensures that even a difference of 0.0000001 can decide your college branch.
12 00 PM IST - 16 Feb'26
Meet the 2025 JEE Main Legends: A Look Back at the 56 Toppers Who Secured Perfect 100 Percentiles
Last year was record-breaking with 56 students hitting the 100 percentile mark. Notable names included Ayush Singhal (Rajasthan), Sanvi Jain (Karnataka), and Kushagra Gupta. This cohort set the gold standard for the 2026 aspirants, with many of them moving on to secure top ranks in JEE Advanced and entering IIT Bombay’s Computer Science program.

How NTA Compiles JEE Main Toppers List: Understanding Normalization Process for Multi-Session Exams
The toppers are not determined by raw marks out of 300 but by NTA Normalized Scores. Because some shifts are harder than others, the NTA uses a specific formula to ensure parity. A topper is someone who performed better than 100% of the candidates in their specific shift. This ensures that a student in a "difficult" shift isn't penalized compared to one in an "easy" shift.

JEE Main 2026 Toppers List Announcement: When and Where NTA Will Publish the 100 Percentilers’ Names Today
The National Testing Agency (NTA) traditionally releases the official Toppers List within an hour of the result link going live. This list, available on jeemain.nta.ac.in, includes the names, states, and NTA scores of candidates who achieved a perfect 100 percentile. While individual scorecards are private, the Toppers List is a public document celebrating the nation’s highest achievers.
10 30 AM IST - 16 Feb'26
Understanding the NTA Normalization Process: Why 280 Marks Might Not Mean 100 Percentile Today
Since JEE Main is conducted in multiple shifts, NTA uses a Normalization Formula based on percentile scores. If your shift was "Easy," even a 285 might result in a 99.8 percentile. Conversely, in a "Hard" shift, a 260 could land you in the 100 percentile bracket.
10 00 AM IST - 16 Feb'26
Browser Advisory: Chrome and Laptop Access Recommended for Final Release
NTA technical advisors recommend using an updated version of Google Chrome on a laptop or desktop rather than a mobile device. Mobile browsers often struggle with the PDF generation script of the NTA scorecard, leading to "Failed to Load" errors. If the page freezes, use Ctrl + Shift + R to perform a hard refresh, which clears the local cache and fetches the most recent version of the result page from the server.
09 24 AM IST - 16 Feb'26
JEE Main Final Answer Key 2026 Expected Release Time
The final answer key of Session 1 is expected to be released within few hours. There is a 40% chance for the release of answre key by 12 PM, and there is a 50% chance for the release before 5 PM. In case the final answer key releases by 5 PM, result can be expected before 11:30 PM.

State Code of Eligibility: The NIT Home State Advantage
Double-check the "State Code of Eligibility" on your result. This isn't where you took the exam, but where you completed Class 12. This code determines your 50% Home State Quota for NIT admissions, which can significantly lower the cutoff for top branches.
06 00 AM IST - 16 Feb'26
JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Scorecard Anatomy: No "Pass/Fail" Status Today
Important reminder: Your Session 1 scorecard will not say "Qualified" or "Not Qualified." Since ranks and JEE Advanced cutoffs are finalized only after Session 2, today’s result is strictly a performance snapshot. Only the final scorecard in April will confirm your eligibility for the IITs.
05 40 AM IST - 16 Feb'26
Password Recovery: Using the "Security Question" Route
Anticipating a surge in "Forgot Password" requests, NTA’s technical cell has optimized the recovery link. If you’ve forgotten your login, you can reset it via your registered email or the Security Question you selected during the January registration.
05 20 AM IST - 16 Feb'26
Session 2 Registration Reminder: Link Remains Active
Despite the result madness, the registration portal for Session 2 (April) remains live. Experts suggest waiting until after checking today’s scorecard to decide if you need to apply for an improvement attempt, but keep an eye on the March deadline.
05 15 AM IST - 16 Feb'26

12 00 AM IST - 16 Feb'26
Why You Should Wait for the "All India Rank" (AIR) Before Panicking Remember
The result on Feb 16 gives you a Percentile, not a Rank. Your final admission depends on your AIR, which NTA will calculate after the April session. If your January percentile is low, Session 2 is your "Golden Second Chance" to leapfrog into a better NIT.
11 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
Category-wise Safety Zones: SC/ST and OBC-NCL Trends
For SC/ST candidates, an 85-90 percentile often secures a seat in a top-10 NIT. For OBC-NCL and EWS candidates, the cutoff behavior closely tracks the General category, but with a 1.5–2 percentile relaxation for top branches.
10 30 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
IIIT Admissions: The Best Alternative for Tech Enthusiasts
If you miss the NIT cutoff but have a strong interest in IT, keep an eye on IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology). IIIT Hyderabad and IIIT Bangalore have their own bars, but IIIT Gwalior and IIIT Jabalpur are excellent options for those in the 97+ percentile bracket.
10 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
90 to 94 Percentile: Are NITs Still Possible?
If you are in the 90-94 percentile range, focus on the newer NITs (North-East NITs) like NIT Meghalaya, NIT Agartala, or NIT Srinagar. Alternatively, this percentile is excellent for top state-government colleges and reputed private universities that accept JEE Main scores.

Historical Timing: Will NTA Pull a "Midnight Surprise"?
In 2024 and 2025, NTA released results between 10 PM and 1 AM. While the official date is February 16, the tech team often activates the database late at night on the "Eve of the Result" to manage server load.
05 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
Evening Portal Status: NTA Background Refresh Detected
Website monitors have detected minor layout adjustments on the jeemain.nta.nic.in homepage. This "pre-upload" activity typically occurs 12–18 hours before a major link activation.

"NTA Score" Explained: Why it’s Not a Percentage?
Your scorecard will show an "NTA Score." It is a relative score ranging from 0 to 100. It indicates the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below you in that specific shift, ensuring a level playing field regardless of paper difficulty.
04 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
Shift-Wise Hardness: January 23 Shift 2 Remains the "Toughest" Benchmark
Analysis of all 10 shifts suggests that January 23 Shift 2 had the most complex Physics and Math combination. Students in this shift could see a 99 percentile at just 153–158 marks, the lowest across all sessions.
03 30 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
Category-Wise Expected Advanced Cutoffs: General vs. Reserved
Current projections for qualifying for JEE Advanced 2026 suggest a cutoff of 93.2–94.5 percentile for General and 79.5–81.0 for OBC-NCL. If you fall in this range, you will be among the top 2.5 lakh eligible for IIT admissions.
03 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
The 100 Percentile Logic: Multiple Toppers Expected Across 10 Shifts
Remember, a 100 percentile does not require 300 marks; it simply requires being the top scorer in your specific shift. With 10 shifts conducted, we expect a minimum of 10 to 25 students to hit the perfect 100.0000000 score this session.
02 30 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
Percentile Bunching: Why 14.5 Lakh Registrations Make a Difference
With record-high registrations, the number of students at each mark level has increased. Experts warn of "Percentile Bunching," where a single mark could represent a gap of over 1,200 ranks in the mid-range (90–95 percentile) compared to previous years.
02 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
Female Supernumerary Seats: Lower Percentile Cutoffs for Girls
A reminder for female aspirants: To improve gender diversity, NITs have supernumerary seats. This often means the closing ranks for female candidates are significantly relaxed—sometimes by 2-3 percentile points, compared to gender-neutral pools.
01 30 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
95 to 97 Percentile: Best Options for Civil and Chemical Engineering
Landing between 95 and 97 percentile (98-140 marks) is the "sweet spot" for established mid-tier NITs like NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Kurukshetra, and NIT Durgapur. While CSE might be tough here, Core branches like Civil, Chemical, and Electrical are well within reach.
01 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
The "Home State" Advantage: How Quotas Lower the Entry Barrier
Don’t lose hope if your percentile is slightly lower. NITs reserve 50% of seats for Home State (HS) candidates. For example, a student from Delhi might get into NIT Delhi with a lower percentile than an Other State (OS) student, making the 96-97 percentile range highly competitive for locals.
12 30 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
Beyond CSE: Top Engineering Branches Available at 98 Percentile
If your predicted score lands you in the 98 percentile bracket (131-165 marks), you are in a strong position for Core Engineering branches. Expect to qualify for Electronics & Communication (ECE) at NIT Allahabad or Mechanical Engineering at NIT Rourkela and NIT Calicut.
12 00 PM IST - 15 Feb'26
99 Percentile Club: Which Top 5 NITs Can You Aim For?
Scoring above a 99 percentile (approx. 153-187 marks) opens the doors to the "Big Three": NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, and NIT Warangal. Even with the record 14.5 lakh applicants, a 99+ percentile remains the safe threshold for Computer Science (CSE) in these top-tier institutes.
11 30 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
JEE Main Session 1 2026 Final Answer Key Reached "Final Upload" Status?
As we close the morning session, the buzz around the NTA headquarters suggests the Final Answer Key is ready for release. If the PDF drops in the next hour, it confirms that the Feb 16 result could actually arrive earlier than expected.
11 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
What to Do if the Website Shows "503 Service Unavailable"?
If you see a 503 error today, do not panic—it actually means the result upload is in progress. Instead of constant refreshing, wait for our Live Link Ping, which will notify you the exact second the database is accessible.
10 30 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
Why February 15-16 Window is Critical: JoSAA & Session 2 Timelines
With the Session 2 registration closing on February 25, NTA is under pressure to release Session 1 scores today or tomorrow. This gives students exactly 10 days to decide their April attempt strategy based on their current percentile.
10 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
High Traffic Alert: NTA May Use Multiple Server Mirrors
To prevent a repeat of the 2025 site crash, NTA is expected to deploy three dedicated result servers: ntaresults.nic.in, jeemain.nta.nic.in, and a secondary NTA portal. We will provide the direct Server 1, 2, and 3 links as soon as the background scripts are updated.
09 30 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
Historical Timing Patterns: Is a Late-Night JEE Main Session 1 Result 2026 More Likely?
Data from the last three years shows that NTA prefers releasing JEE Main results between 9 PM and 11:30 PM to manage server load. If the link does not go live by 2 PM today, the probability of a "Midnight Surprise" on the eve of February 16 increases significantly.
09 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
Final Answer Key vs. Result: Will They Drop Simultaneously Today?
Technical sources suggest that the Final Answer Key PDF is essentially the "green signal" for the results. If the final key is uploaded between 10 AM and 2 PM today, the scorecard link usually follows within 4 to 6 hours. We are monitoring the "Latest News" section for the PDF link.
08 30 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
NTA Server Check: Official Portal Stable; Link Activation Expected Shortly
As of Sunday morning, the official NTA portal is undergoing routine maintenance checks. While the revised result date is February 16, NTA has a track record of activating the scorecard login window a day early or during late-night hours. Students are advised to keep their application numbers ready for "Anytime" access.
08 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
The "Elite 100" Club: Who Gets a Perfect NTA Score?
To get a 100 percentile, you don't necessarily need 300/300. You only need to be the top scorer in your shift. Whether that top score is 280 or 300, it is normalized to 100.0000000, creating multiple "toppers" across the 10 shifts.
07 30 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
Final Result Window: Historically, Does NTA Release Early?
While the official date is Feb 16, NTA has a pattern of activating the link late at night or early morning. Our team is monitoring the servers for "hidden link" updates throughout today and tomorrow.

JEE Mains Normalization 2026 : Does the Process "Reduce" Your Marks?
A common concern among students is that normalization "cuts" marks. In reality, your raw marks remain the same; normalization simply ensures that a student who faced a paper with high-difficulty Physics isn't penalized compared to one who had an easier set. It is a fairness mechanism, not a deduction.
06 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
Tie-Breaking Update: Physics vs Chemistry in the Ranking Order
After Mathematics and Accuracy ratios, the next tie-breakers are your Physics percentile, followed by your Chemistry percentile. If all these parameters are identical, NTA now awards the same rank to both candidates, as the "Age Rule" was officially removed for 2026.
05 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
Accuracy Ratios: How "Incorrect vs Correct" Responses Break Ties
If Mathematics scores are also tied, NTA looks at the ratio of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers. A student who has fewer negative marks across all subjects—and specifically in Mathematics—will gain a higher rank. This makes precision just as important as the total score.
04 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
70 Percentile Threshold: What 33 to 47 Marks Means?
Even at the lower end, the normalization gap remains. A 70 percentile requires 47.1 marks (Easy), but drops significantly to 33.6 marks if your shift was among the toughest in the session.
03 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
The "Age Rule" Scrapped: Merit Over Date of Birth
From 2025 onwards, NTA removed the age factor from tie-breaking. If subject scores and accuracy ratios are identical, candidates are now given the same rank, ensuring a 100% merit-based system.
02 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
80 to 85 Percentile: Expected Scores for Category Students
For OBC-NCL and EWS students, the 80-85 percentile range is vital. In a medium-difficulty paper, 72 marks will likely land you an 85 percentile, while 56 marks could secure an 80 percentile.
01 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
Decimal Precision: Why NTA Uses 7 Decimal Places
NTA calculates percentiles up to 7 decimal points (e.g., 99.1234567). This is done specifically to reduce the number of students having the same rank, though ties are still possible in the middle brackets.
12 00 AM IST - 15 Feb'26
90 Percentile Deep Dive: The 73-102 Marks Window
The 90 percentile marks show the intensity of the competition. While a tough shift rewards you at 73 marks, an easy shift requires crossing the 100-mark barrier just to hit the 90th percentile.
11 00 PM IST - 14 Feb'26
Impact of "Dropped Questions" on Normalization
If the 17 disputed questions are dropped, raw scores will be recalculated for those shifts. This usually pushes the percentile requirements slightly higher as the "base" marks for everyone in that shift increase by 4.
10 30 PM IST - 14 Feb'26
95 Percentile: The Gateway to JEE Advanced Eligibility
For the General category, the 95 percentile is the likely qualifying zone. To reach this, you need roughly 98.5 marks in a tough shift or 132.5 marks in an easy shift.
10 00 PM IST - 14 Feb'26
98 Percentile Benchmarks: 131 vs 165 Marks
For a 98 percentile, often considered the safe zone for good NITs, the marks required range from 131 (Tough) to 165.3 (Easy). This illustrates the 34-mark swing caused by normalization.
09 30 PM IST - 14 Feb'26
The Accuracy Factor: Negative Marking and Tie-Breaking
Under the new rules, NTA prioritizes the "Ratio of incorrect to correct answers" as a major tie-breaker. Random guessing in the Numerical Value section could now cost you a better rank even if your total score is high.
09 00 PM IST - 14 Feb'26
Shift Difficulty Impact: How 2026 January Trends Compare
With 14.5 lakh registrations, the "bunching effect" at the 99 percentile is higher. A difference of just 0.0001 percentile could now mean a jump of several hundred ranks in the final All India Rank (AIR).
08 30 PM IST - 14 Feb'26
99 Percentile Analysis: The 153-187 Marks Range
The most contested bracket is the 99 percentile. Our analysis shows a wide variance: an easy paper requires 187.3 marks, whereas a tough paper could drop the requirement to 153 marks.
08 00 PM IST - 14 Feb'26
