The MP Ranjan JKLU Design Resource Centre is named after the professor of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Professor M.P. Ranjan. It will be a part of the Institute of Design and will invite scholars from outside as well.

JK Lakshmipat University Jaipur Gets New Design Resource Centre

The inauguration of a recently developed state-of-the-art design centre was done in Jaipur at JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU). The new centre is named MP Ranjan JKLU Design Resource Centre and it is a part of the Institute of Design.

Minister of Industry and State Enterprise of Rajasthan, Prasadi Lal Meena, said the opening of this new centre will make Rajasthan the one-stop hub for all designers at a global level. The centre is named after the famous stalwart of design, Professor MP Ranjan.

The Dean of the Institute of Design of JK Lakshmipat University, Professor A. Balasubramaniam, was also present at the occasion and he said a few words of praise for Professor M.P. Ranjan. He said Professor Ranjan was an enthusiastic, quintessential teacher who had eclectic and varied interests. The collection of books that he possessed exhibits his varied interests and is now a prized collection at the university’s Learning Resource Centre.

The centre will not be open only for the students of JKLU but will invite scholars and designers from outside as well. The Institute of Design aims at bringing a new and innovative approach to design education. The approach is desired to be integrative in process and collaborative in nature. The students will be working in studios and labs while also utilizing their brains to its full potential to extract new ideas.

The institution is looking forward to establishing a progressive landscape in the sphere of design and also to create bridges in order to fill the gap between several design schools and a wide variety of professionals.

Aditi Ranjan, who is a professor at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and also the wife of Late MP Ranjan, said that she believes MP Ranjan Centre will leave a mark on a global level. Professor MP Ranjan was a principal designer at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and had taught there for 40 years.
