JNU VC Calls for Stronger Association with NDA Pune
In his address at the 131st convocation ceremony of National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune, Vice- Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi, Dr. M Jagadesh Kumar on Monday, 28 November 2016 appealed for stronger collaboration between the Central University JNU and NDA, Pune. Kumar was addressing the ceremony as a chief guest held in the Habibullah hall of NDA.
Kumar said that he is proud of the fact that they have a very strong collaboration between JNU and NDA. He wants this collaboration to lead further as NDA cadets are also alumni of JNU. He wants more interaction between the two institutes and would call for stronger relationship ties between the faculties and students from the both institutes. He also proposed equal participation in all activities at NDA and JNU collectively.
A total of 274 cadets were offered the degrees from JNU at the convocation ceremony held at NDA:
- 128 in computer science
- 95 cadets in science stream
- 51 in social science stream
- 4 foreign cadets
The Vice-Chancellor was received by Air Marshal J S Kler, V M Commandant, NDA. In his address, Kumar also highlighted the importance of higher education as well as the challenges being faced in its implementation.
A S Dhatt, Squadron Cadet Captain won the Commandant’s Silver Medal as well as COAS Trophy for standing first in the stream of Science with highest Final Grade Point Average (FGPA)
Cadet Raghuvinder received the Commandant’s Silver Medal as well as the Admiral’s Trophy for standing first in the stream of Computer Science with highest FGPA.
Captain S Chauhan, Battalion Cadet bagged the Commandant’s Silver Medal as well as the CAS Trophy for standing first in the stream of Social Science.
A S Dhatt, Squadron Cadet Captain also got the Chief of Naval Staff Trophy for standing first amongst all the three streams.
A new trophy for the cadets of B-Tech course was unveiled during the ceremony and it was presented to Air Marshal JS Kler VM, Commandant, NDA.
