Jumbling in AP & TS Intermediate Practical Exams Made Mandatory

The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), Andhra Pradesh will conducte the AP Intermediate Practical Exams 2018 in the designated exam centres following the jumbling system in Intermediate practical exams. The Telangana state Inter Practical exam 2018 or TS Inter Practical exam 2018 will also follow the Jumbling system across govenrment and private schools/ colleges in the state. BIE had initiated the implementation of the jumbling system wfrom the academic year 2015-2016. Due to widespread dissent amongst schools and colleges, the government had to postpone it and decided to implement from the academic year 2017 onwards. But in 2017 too, there were protests amongst student bodies and junior colleges and the government had to finally out it off again in 2017 as well. Following the 'Sakala Janula Samme' & other agitations, they argued that students would have to undergo unnecessary stress and trauma.

Representatives form Private College Management Association and Telangana Government Junior Lecturers Association had unanimously agreed upon following the jumbling system in 2018 Intermediate practical exams. The objective of introducing jumbling system is "to bring more seriousness into practical examinations and make the colleges give equal priority to laboratory practice and improve the standard of examinations", said Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathi.

The AP & TS Intermediate Practical Exam Centres 2018 list, along with list of IPE Inter Jumbling Centres and AP & TS Inter practical jumbling exam centres time table, dates along with Hall Tickets will be available on the official website of Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education, a week before the actual exam. AP PE intermediate Board ((BIEAP) & TS IPE intermediate Board (TS BIE) are conducted in the month of February every year and will continue until March 2018.

The main requisite of following the jumbling system is to have well-facilitated laboratories in each school/ junior college. Similar to 2017, TS Inter Practical (lab) Exam and public IPE exams and AP Inter Practical (lab) Exam and public IPE exams will be conduted in the offline mode following the jumbling system.

What is Jumbling System in BIEAP and TS BIE:

According to the Jumbling System, students of one college will have to take practical examination in an examination center allotted to them. Since the students don't know where their AP & TS BIE exam centres will be, unless the students are not provided with enough equipment to be scored, their chances of getting high marks may be impaired. Amid opposition, the Jumbling System has been implemented, some of the major concerns being:

  • In the absence of Jumbling System, the secondary colleges in AP & TS, especially private and corporate-run schools and junior colleges favored students by awarding cent percent marks even if they did not perform well in the practical examinations. With the Jumbling System in place, unfair marking will be reduced and students will score as per their performance & calibre.
  • Jumbling System might affect student’s marks in Intermediate, which will have weightage in AP EAMCET, TS EAMCET and JEE entrance exams.
  • Most of the parents opined that “Students are not being given proper knowledge in practical examination. Most of the colleges do not train the students in practical tests throughout the year. So students lack knowledge and secure fewer marks in the practical examination”.
