Overall Analysis of AP EAMCET 2018

The minimum qualifying marks required for ranking AP EAMCET is 25% of the maximum marks i.e. 40 marks out of total of 160 marks for general category students.

There were total of 8 slots from 22nd to 25th April, 2018 on which the AP EAMCET exam was conducted in slots each day.

The question paper in each of the slots were different but what as commendable was that in each of the slots the test conducting body of AP EAMCET ensured similar paper pattern so that none of the students of any of the slots may have any edge over the others.

The questions in each of the slots were also jumbled among themselves so as to avoid any unfair means of marking the correct answers.

As per the first reaction of the paper it can be inferred that the difficulty level of the paper was of moderate level in almost all the 8 slots and there were no surprise element in any of the slot i.e. it was on predictable lines.

Except for Chemistry section, the remaining two sections were viz Maths and Physics were of moderate to easy level and one could easy maximize scores in these sections.

First Day Analysis of AP EAMCET 2018

Subjects No. of questions Easy Medium Difficult Overall Good Attempts Accuracy Good Marks
Maths 80 35 34 11 Moderate 60 80% 52
Physics 40 15 18 7 Moderate 34 80% 28
Chemistry 40 13 17 10 Moderate 30 80% 25
Total 160 63 69 28   124   105

Section-wise Analysis of AP EAMCET 2018

Among the 3 sections of AP EAMCET for Engineering, Physics was the easiest followed by Chemistry and then Maths.

What made Physics easier was that the questions were direct and anyone with clarity in his/her fundamentals had a fair change of attempting 32 to 34 questions with 85% accuracy and can score 28 plus marks.

In Physics section, questions were majorly from Gravitation, Motion, Electrostatic, capacitance, alternating current, semiconductor, current electricity, waves, optics, thermodynamics, oscillations, rotational motion, work, energy, power, mechanical properties, thermal properties.

The questions in Chemistry section were primarily from 12th class and logic-driven, and involved the basic understanding of concepts.

In Chemistry section, majority of questions were from these chapters: Thermodynamics, S block elements, P block elements, organic chemistry, chemical equilibrium, state of matter, chemical bonding, molecular structure, atomic structure, classification of elements, hydrogen and its compounds.

An attempt of 30 at an accuracy of 80% is decent enough to get a score of 25 plus.

In Mathematics section, questions were lengthy and time-consuming, and attempting 70 questions within a time frame of 80 to 90 minutes was a herculean task. 55 to 60 can be considered as good attempts at an accuracy of 80%, which can get you approx 50 marks in this section.

Questions were primarily from Algebra, Trigonometry, vector algebra, measures of dispersion, coordinate geometry, probability, calculus.

As there is no negative marking in the paper, intelligent guess after elimination of 2 options was a good strategy of maximising the attempts.

An overall attempt of 125 plus at an accuracy of 80% is fairly decent for getting a score of 100 to 105, which is a good score for getting a rank under 2500 and to ensure admission in some of the top engineering colleges of AP.

Good number of attempts for fetching seat into Top Govt Engineering colleges will be 140 plus at an accuracy of 80%, which will give a rank of under 1000.

In fact, as there are close to 17 Govt Engineering colleges, one can even expect a seat in these Govt engineering colleges at a rank of under 3000. Rank of 3000 can be achieved at a score of 100 to 105.

The paper was very close to the previous year AP EAMCET exam and was very predictable.

Students who would have practiced the previous years' papers thoroughly have a good chance of scoring well in this exam.
