The High Court of Karnataka (Divisional Bench) has taken up the hearing on KCET 2022 ranks and repeaters issue at 3:55 PM. However, no concrete decision has been taken again, and the matter has been posted for further hearing. The matter of KCET 2022 has been listed as Item No. 69 in Cause List 1. What Happened in the September 19th Hearing Regarding KCET 2022 Ranks/ Repeaters Issue?

Here are the major highlights of the court hearing -

  • The court has directed the government to come up with a solution that is acceptable to everyone without any controversies
  • The court has posted the matter for the next hearing on September 22
  • It is the responsibility of the government to come up with a solution to this matter now by September 22 and submit its decision to the Honourable Court
  • Based on the KEA's solution to KCET 2022 repeaters issue, the High Court will convey its judgment. With the latest delay, the counselling of KCET 2022 is not going to begin this week as well
  • The Advocate representing the state government indicated that the previous High Court was unfair, and such a decision shall affect the KCET 2022 ranks of 1,75,000 fresher students
  • The court confirmed from the advocates whether 24,000 repeater students appeared for KCET 2021 or not. Most of these students appeared for the 2021 KCET exam, submitted by the counsel. 

Now that the Government has to decide on the solution, there will be 3-4 kinds of solutions that government might look over -

  • 50:50 Weightage for All (OR)
  • 75:25 Weightage for Repeaters (OR)
  • 100% Weightage for CET Ranks (OR)
  • Any other solution that might benefit both repeaters and fresher students

Note: The above-mentioned solutions are just mentioned basis the happenings so far. The government might come up with any solution that it would think is logical. The above-mentioned solutions are not final. 

On September 15, 2022, the first hearing on Karnataka Government’s petition on KCET 2022 matter took place. The court directed the concerned parties to file objections, and the matter was postponed for further hearing on September 19. The candidates who are eagerly waiting for the hearing need to wait a few more days to get detailed information on the decision of the Karnataka High Court on KCET 2022. The counselling dates of KCET 2022 will be released only after the High Court’s judgment.
