KSEAB has issued a circular to all schools announcing a 5% hike in SSLC exam fees for the 2025–26 academic year. Regular students will now pay Rs. 710, while private and repeater candidates can also see revised fees here.

Karnataka SSLC Exam Fees 2025 Hiked: Karnataka School Examination and Evaluation Board (KSEAB) declared a rise in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam fee for the year 2025-26. A notification issued to all the schools within the state, the board officially confirmed the rise in the exam fee by a margin of 5% for regular, private, as well as repeater applicants.
According to the new fee schedule, normal students who will be sitting the SSLC board exams in 2026 for the very first time will have to pay Rs. 710. Earlier the fee was Rs. 676. The purpose of the increase is to meet the increasing administrative and exam expenses, such as logistics, printing, and computer-based assessment charges.
For a fresh private candidates, the exam fee has gone up from Rs. 236 to Rs. 248. In the same manner, repeater candidates will have to pay subject-wise fee as follows: Rs. 471, one subject, Rs. 559, two subjects, and Rs. 752, three or more subjects.
KSEAB has stated the hike is to support the minimum and improvement of examination-related infrastructure, including digital assessment and logistics and orders all the school heads that they shall notify the revised fee and collect the same before the stipulated date. KSEAB has made it clear that the increase shall be uniform across all types of candidates, viz., who appear privately or through recognised Institutions.
Meanwhile, the circular has drawn mixed reactions from parents and education stakeholders. While some accept that a modest increase is reasonable given inflation, others have urged the government to reconsider the increase for students from low-income families.
