List of New Changes in KCET Counselling 2023: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has recently announced to combine the counselling process for all courses in various domains for the upcoming session. The Executive Director of KEA, Ramya S., announced in a press conference held on Monday, July 24, 2023, that the authority will be conducting a single counselling process to provide admissions for Engineering, Medical, Agricultural, Veterinary, Pharmacy and Nursing courses in the state. With this, the authority is aiming to reduce the unwanted delay in conducting various processes separately. Check the major changes in KCET Counselling 2023 and the revised process for option entry in the news below.

KCET Counselling 2023 New Changes: Revised Process for Filling Options

The list of changes for Karnataka CET Counselling Process 2023 made by KEA has been shared below for all applicants:

  • The changes will be implemented from the current session 2023-24 itself, which may lead to a slight delay in counselling of some courses while in other courses, it will be sped up.

  • A single counselling process for all courses of engineering, medical, pharmacy, nursing, agricultural and veterinary branches.

  • All courses and colleges will be listed while choosing options for KCET Counselling 2023 and the candidates have to select the courses in order of their preferences.

  • For example, if a candidate wants to prefer the medical seat first but wants to keep the engineering seat as a second priority, he/she has to choose the medical courses as the first preference and the engineering courses later. That is, instead of opting for course-wise preferences, the candidate has to prepare a combined list of preferences against all courses.

  • The first round of seat allotment will be based on merit, the number of seats, and the preference of options filled by the candidates. Hence, there is a probability that the candidates may get the allotment of multiple domains according to their preference. In this case, they will have the option to freeze one allotment before the last date.

  • The candidate will also have the option to hold the other allotted seat to the next round of counselling by exercising ‘Choice-2’

  • The number of attempts of holding the medical seat is two rounds and for the rest of the streams, it is three rounds.

  • The candidates who have been allotted a medical seat in the second round but want to change to engineering/other seats have to pay a penalty fee to change it.

Note: The changes in Karnataka KCET Counselling Process 2023 are subject to change based on the feedback given by the applicants and institutes in the first round itself.
