Deputy education director of the Kolhapur division, M K Gondhali stressed on the need for principals to develop decision-making skills. He was speaking at the one-day principals' workshop held at Kolhapur Institute of Technology (KIT) College of Engineering.
Mr.Gondhali said that a principal needs to be professional with his decisions, but he must also be compassionate enough to know students' issues, both social and financial, to make better judgments at the administrative level. A college official said that other speakers also gave lectures on communication and the constructive modes of education.
A Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) official said that the event is important as the principal's post is vacant in around 100 colleges of the university. According to the official, the situation has not improved over the past few years and most of the colleges have to rely on the acting principal for official communication.
