Kurukshetra University has been granted autonomy by the HRD Ministry for admission to postgraduate courses. The University got its recognition in Category-1 rank by the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) with a score of 3.42 out of 4.0 by the NAAC evaluation. In 2018, the university was granted Rs.100 crore under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme.
From the past two years, the government has brought all the university under the common admission process. However, Kurukshetra University advocated its autonomy for the admission process. Due to which the Additional Chief Secretary has now sent a letter to the university on this subject.
Kurukshetra University spokesperson said that students would now be admitted in KU through their guidelines and rules. The admission process will be based on a joint merit list based on the entrance score, qualification marks and weight of the applicant involved in the extracurricular activities. The admission process of the Kurukshetra University will begin quickly and the schedule for the admission will be published in a couple of days. Dr. Kailash Chandra Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University said that by this process the status of the university will increase in both academics and research.
