The LPU students won the first prize in music, theatre and literary competitions while Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa won the first prize in dance and Dr BR Ambedkar University, Agra secured the first position in fine arts.
However the hosts PAU failed to bag any top position in 25 competitions. In the five-day North Zone Inter University Youth Festival students of 31 universities from the North region took part.
During the prize distribution ceremony the Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema praised PAU for hosting the youth festival. He stated that India should focus on vocational education. He also shared with the participants his own experiences as a student.
The PAU Vice-Chancellor, while addressing the audience said that he was keen on hosting the National Youth Festival at PAU. He further stated that he noticed during the festival that the students gave a lot of respect to their trainers who trained them for their performance in the festival but did not give the same respect to their teachers. He asked the teachers to find out why.
Dr S K Sharma from the Association of Indian Universities thanked the PAU faculty, teachers and students for the wonderful arrangements and cooperation.
