Lucknow University has made a proposal to make changes in the exam pattern of B.Sc courses for the odd semesters from the new academic session (2018-19). The varsity proposed to introduce MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) in odd semester examination.
The varsity had tabled the proposal in a meeting that took place last week. Heads of Science Departments were present at the meeting. Even though the heads of science departments favoured the proposal to some extent, Faculty Board opposed the move. Therefore, Lucknow University will hold another meeting on April 03, 2018, with the Faculty Board to take a call on the proposal.

As per the proposal made by the varsity, Semester I and Semester III will have MCQ-based examination while Semester II and Semester IV will have the theory and practical examination. Similarly, Semester V will be MCQ-based and final semester will be theory-based.

One of the professors of science department expressed that B.Sc examination without practicals will deteriorate the quality of education at B.Sc level. Therefore, the varsity has to roll back the proposal to introduce MCQ-based questions in semester exams.
Recently, Lucknow University has taken a decision to revise the teaching pattern for various UG courses. The existing teaching pattern for the UG courses will have a new structure for the upcoming academic session. The new examination pattern for UG courses will also come into effect from the next academic session.
