Madhya Pradesh: Govt. Recommends DTE to Introduce Entrance Exam for MBA Seats
The Directorate of Technical Education, Madhya Pradesh has been recommended by the state government to introduce a mandatory entrance exam for MBA seats. Earlier, the government cancelled entrance examination for engineering seats, and the admissions are granted as per the marks secured by the candidates in class 12 examination. Similarly, the government implemented the same system for MBA seats where the candidates are given admissions as per their graduation marks.
As of now, according to a report submitted by the state government to DTE, every aspirant must qualify an entrance examination, i.e., Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) to secure an MBA seat. However, the final decision is yet to take by Directorate of Technical Education.
From the last couple of years, there has been no entrance examination for MBA admissions and the candidates have been able to secure seats as per their graduation marks. On an average, 50% of candidates have taken admissions by graduation marks. There are 15,000 MBA seats in the state. There are 67 colleges in Bhopal which offer MBA course out of 200 colleges across the state.
The main objective of recommending CMAT for MBA admissions is to improve the quality of education. If CMAT is introduced, college level counselling in MBA will come to an end. However, there is no clarity whether college level counselling will be scrapped or not.
CMAT is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the admission to various MBA courses.
