Mangalore University Begins Preparations for 37th Convocation

Mangalore University is gearing up for its 37th convocation ceremony which is to take place in April 2019. During the convocation ceremony, varsity is also planning to give  D.Litt and D.Sc degrees (Honoris Causa) to deserving students for their significant contribution.

Mangalore University is all set for its 37th Convocation for the batch of 2017-18. The convocation is likely to take place in April 2019. A possible list of all the chief guests has been sent to the governor and the chancellor of Mangalore University Vajubhai, Rudabhai Vala by the university.

Due to the general elections, the model code of conduct has been put in force till May 27th 2019. For practical reasons, the university is restricted from involving elected representatives. However, it does not deny them from organising their regular activities like convocation.

The Registrar of Administrations, M. Khan, says that UGC has made it compulsory for universities to provide the students with their degrees if they have successfully completed their course. The universities must provide the degrees within 180 days of the student completing the course. The step has been taken so as to help the students who are trying to take admission into foreign universities. Most of the Universities outside of India do not accept provisional degrees. As per the UGC regulations, the university should have conducted its convocation in December 2018.

The University VC Kishori Nayak K is eager to call upon a significant woman achiever as the chief guest for the convocation who will also deliver the convocation address as well. The University is also thinking of giving D.Litt and D.Sc degrees (Honoris Causa) to those students who have achieved to make a significant contribution to the area of work they have chosen.
