Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has made International English Language Testing System (IELTS) available for all the students on campus by signing an agreement with British Council at their college building on Monday, August 27, 2018.
Dr. H Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Academy (MAHE) & Michael King, Managing Director, British Council Examinations & English Services Pvt Ltd signed the agreement.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, Dr. Poornima Baliga (Health Sciences) & Dr. PLNG Rao (Quality Assurance), Registrar, Dr. Narayan Sabhahit, Director International Relation, Dr. Raghu Radhakrishnan, Dean KMC, Manipal, Dr. Pragna Rao and Director Planning and Monitoring, Dr. Aparna were also present while signing the agreement.
Before signing the agreement, Michael King met students of MAHE and told them about the advantages of learning IELTS as it is the most popular English language proficiency test for global studying and migration. He continued by saying that over 3 million students attempted IELTS test in 2017 and more than 10,000 organizations, including schools, universities and professional bodies accept the scores of IELTS.
IELTS is the only English language exam score that is accepted for visa applications and immigration processes in Australia, Canada, New Zealand & United Kingdom. Currently, IELTS is available in Bengaluru & Mangaluru, Karnataka. This agreement will provide a testing process to aspiring candidates.
As part of the organization, the British Council is planning to conduct a three-day program to train the trainee (TTT) for the trainers of the college. Through this program, the council expects that the students will also gain support while preparing for the test.
Mr. King was delighted by the agreement and said that through Manipal University, aspiring candidates can get easy access to IELTS. He also emphasized on the fact that having a valid IELTS score will better the possible opportunities for students. He also said that Manipal University is doing a great job by starting this program as Manipal is an educational hub which attracts students from all over the country for technology courses and joining hands with IELTS program will also help the students to learn the importance of higher education & emigration abroad for better career opportunities.
Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, Dr. Vinod Bhat said that he is pleased to sign the agreement with IELTS as he wants students of Manipal University to have innumerable opportunities, and wanted the inner talent of every student to be recognized. He added that Manipal University will provide just that by helping students to study abroad and discover new opportunities.
