Monash University and Mahindra University, Hyderabad, have announced joint programs in Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineering, enabling students to graduate with bachelor's degrees from both institutions. This partnership provides students with a unique opportunity to study across two continents. Students will commence their engineering degree at Mahindra University before transferring to Monash University to complete their third and final year, with the option to start at Monash as early as July 2026.
Professor Adrian Neild, Deputy Dean of Enterprise at Monash University, highlighted the benefits of this partnership, stating that it aligns with India's National Education Policy (NEP) and provides students with industry-focused exposure and world-leading research facilities. Dr. Yajulu Medury, Vice-Chancellor of Mahindra University, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that it will open new opportunities for students and faculty, allowing them to gain global perspectives and build knowledge with real-world impact.
"This collaboration goes beyond just student exchange," Dr. Yajulu said. "It sets the stage for our faculty to work together, share ideas, and build knowledge that has real-world impact. This MoU reflects our belief that education should cross borders, spark curiosity, and shape young minds into responsible global citizens."
Professor Craig Jeffrey, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) at Monash University, emphasized the university's commitment to deeper engagement with India. "This announcement further strengthens the implementation of Monash's India Plan, launched last year," Professor Jeffrey said. "Our collaboration with Mahindra University is a direct response to the NEP 2020, offering students a world-class education that is both Indian in foundation and global in outlook."
Monash Engineering is ranked #2 in Australia and #59 globally, making it an ideal partner for this collaboration. The exposure to Monash University will benefit Mahindra University's students, and the university will be making an application in accordance with UGC norms.
