Mumbai University is yet to declare the results of several important examinations held in November last year, despite its plans to carry out an online evaluation of the exam sheets.
The delay will cause lots of problems for the students, as it will give them little time for re-evaluation, in case of any discrepancies. The delay will also cause problems in their plan to go abroad for further studies.
Students who appeared in the 5th semester of their third year in BMS, BBI, BFM and BAF courses have been waiting for the results for almost three years now. Around 30,000 students had appeared in these four examinations.
Rohit Nagpal, a student from a suburban college said that he wanted to study in the USA and wanted to submit his application form for higher studies. But due to the delay, he has not been able to fill up the application form and missed the deadline in February. His dream to go abroad in this year will go in vain. Now he may have to look for other options.
Several students have expressed their displeasure on social media over the delay of the examination. Paras Loomba, another student, said if they don't get the results on time, they will not be able to apply for re-evaluation of the exams papers for repeaters section. The repeaters examinations are scheduled to be held on 5th April 2017. Last year's students had to face a lot of problems due to delay in declaration of the examination results. The same thing is going to happen even this year also, adding more woes to the life of the students.
An officer of the University said that several colleges are yet to return the paper bundles that had been allotted to them for evaluation. There was a mismatch in allocating assessment work. But they will announce the result within one or two weeks. The repeaters examination will be postponed so that students get time for re-evaluation.
