Nagpur University plans online paper moderation

The Nagpur University (NU) has begun to work on shifting paper moderation and setting from manual to an online mode. The University is preparing a question paper bank for the same. According to the move, the paper setting will be facilitated by subject experts.

The reform brought about by the University is set to check the question paper leak. As per the university, this move will also help in preventing the repetition of questions in exam. The reason behind this step taken by Nagpur University is the complaints that came from teachers as well as students of the university against the repetition of questions in previous summer exam.

To take the move further, the University has set up a committee which is led by Pro-VC and all the four deans of the university. The proposal of the university has been accepted by the panel and will soon be referred to the board of examination. Under the chairmanship of S P Kane, Vice-Chancellor, the proposal will be evaluated one final time.

The subject experts that are appointed for moderation, will have to visit the exam center to submit three sets of question papers in writing. These question paper sets will then be assessed by the moderator, which will then be selected randomly by the Director of Examinations and Evaluation. Finally, this selected question paper set will be sent to the examination centers at least half an hour before the exam.

The initiative lead by Nagpur University will be proved very beneficial for the students as well as the overall reputation of the university in the long run. This will help in ensuring the questions are not repetitive in the exams. There will be no leak of question papers as due to this foolproof technique, even the moderators and teachers will be clueless about the papers that will be selected for the examinations.
