The Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will be filing the police complaint into the missing ancient artifacts case of the department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology.
Questions were raised over the delay by the university administration in filing the police complaint, even as the inquiry report of a committee appointed two years back clearly stated that ancient coins were missing indeed.
The complaint was not filed due to delay in administrative procedures, and the police complaint will be filed within a week,
Meanwhile, RTMNU tried to file a police complaint but it did not have any proof or record of the missing artefacts with it. Hence, the Ambazari police had advised the university to conduct an internal inquiry and prepare a concrete report on the issue and then file a complaint with the police. Later on, it came to fore that the concerned inquiry report was with Anoop Kumar. VC Dr S P Kane sent a letter to Anoop Kumar and requested for the report.
Anoop Kumar sent the concerned report to vice- chancellor Dr Kane. The report has the details of the registrations of the artefacts and the missing 216 ancient coins. Even then there was delay by the university in filing the complaint.
The university is planning to launch a compliant soon.
