National Council for Education Research and Training has launched an official website for the home delivery of NCERT books. Individual students, as well as affiliated schools, can place the order on the official website after which the books will be delivered to them. Schools can place the orders by entering the affiliation number and required details. The bookings for the academic session 2018-19 will open from September 8, 2017. One is not required to make any payment while placing orders.
The portal will regulate discrepancies in the distribution of NCERT books and ensure better distribution to various schools across the country. With this move, students and parents need not worry about the availability of NCERT books. Individuals can also place orders for the NCERT books soon and the same will be delivered at the doorstep with minimal postal charges.

Schools can also place orders and procure NCERT books from the nearest NCERT vendors or the regional distribution centres. These centres are located in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Guwahati and Kolkata. Retail sale counters will continue selling the books apart from online sale.
NCERT officials advised the schools to place orders for the books according to the strength of the school. In many cases, lack of availability of NCERT books forces the students to buy books of private publishers which are expensive.
