NEET 2017: Chaotic Admission Season for Medical Aspirants

Restraining orders from Madras High Court to CBSE has postponed the process of evaluation and declaration of NEET results until June 7, 2017. This has led to a chaotic admission season among the medical aspirants across the country.

The petitioners are of the view that the national level medical test be held again since the questions in regional languages were different from those in English, defeating the purpose of a uniform entrance test. However, the petition is still pending in the court.

Many students and parents are not in the favour of a re-test. Fear of changing the field or going abroad if NEET is held again has added to the criticism of competency of CBSE.

Admission dates will further be delayed even if there is no re-test as the evaluation has been postponed. The process was expected to start on June 9, a day after results were to be out and academic session to start by August 1, which, however, may not happen now.

Many other controversies have surfaced around National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) including allegations over students impersonating during the test, attempts to leak the question paper, different questions for different languages, difference in difficulty level.

Further allegations by students of receiving English and Hindi question papers instead of their regional languages and strict commands concerning dress code for security measures have added to the distress among the students.
