National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors to introduce innovative programs in the fields of education and research. Both NIT Trichy and Tata Motors will focus on technological collaboration to meet the future engineering needs with respect to academics and engineering industry.
The main aim of the MoU between NIT and Tata Motors is to promote interaction and work in the areas which are mutually beneficial for both. NIT Trichy and Tata Motors will also launch different research programs. The collaboration envisages development project and joint research programmes over a period of five years to develop new technologies in the field of engineering.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Mini Shaji Thomas, Director NIT Trichy and Gajendra Chandel, Chief Human Resource Officer, Tata Motors Ltd.
NIT Trichy Director said that the institute is excited about the new partnership with Tata Motors which is the pioneer company in the field of engineering technology. This initiative will also provide NIT students with relevant research opportunities and internship programs apart from making them industry ready.

The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli is popularly known as NIT Trichy and is one of the premier engineering institutes of the country. The institute has 16 departments which offer various engineering specializations along with other science, management and humanities courses. The institute focuses mainly on scientific and technological education and research.
