NMC exploring long-term sustainable model for NExT Exit ExamNMC exploring long-term sustainable model for NExT Exit Exam : The National Medical Commission (NMC) is taking a cautious approach to implementing the National Exit Test (NExT), a proposed common exit license sheet examination for medical students. According to NMC Chairperson Dr. Abhijat Sheth, the commission is working on refining the examination model, which may take a couple of years to finalize. This delay is aimed at ensuring that the examination is conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
The NMC plans to conduct mock tests for the next three to four years, which will be fully funded by the commission. These tests will help assess the feasibility of the examination and gather feedback from students and institutions. The final implementation of NExT will be considered only after evaluating the outcomes and responses from these trial runs. This approach will enable the NMC to identify and address any issues that may arise during the implementation process.
The medical fraternity has welcomed the NMC's decision to delay the implementation of NExT. The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has appreciated the NMC's efforts to create a long-term, sustainable model for the examination. According to FAIMA, this approach will allow sufficient time to address legal, structural, and infrastructural challenges, ensuring that the system is fair, transparent, and beneficial to both students and institutions.
The NMC's decision to conduct mock tests and gather feedback is seen as a step towards creating a fair and uniform assessment system. The commission's focus is on ensuring that the examination is conducted transparently and fairly, and that all concerns are addressed before its implementation. With this approach, the NMC aims to create a robust and sustainable model for the NExT examination.
