The Director of School Education Andhra Pradesh has decided to stop generous internal marking at the Class 10 exams level in the schools across the state. To stop this liberal marking an expert committee has been constituted to inspect the issue.
Director of School Education G Kishan, said that the District Education Officials (DEOs) have been instructed to monitor the awarding of internal marks to students. At the Mandal Level, a panel has been formed to monitor with Head Masters and Teachers. This team will visit the high schools in January and February in 2016 to stop the school from being liberal in awarding marks to SSC students.
Around 5 lakhs students are appearing for the examination in between March 14 and March 30, 2017. The pre-finals are to commence from February 20, 2016. The School Education Department has instructed the DEOs to complete the assessment process before the examinations.
It is alleged that school managements often award higher internal marks to their students to get 100% pass percentage. In a proceeding issued by the Director, grades and marks shall be observed vis-a-vis with records and it should be corrected rightly and certified. In case improper markings are offered, the team will correct records and photographs will be sent to the District Educational Officer for necessary action.
It is further stated that if there is any deviation or manipulation in awarding of marks to students of Class 10, monitoring teams will be responsible and they will be held guilty. On December 30, 2016, a meeting will be convened between expert teams and all DEOs to issue guidelines on preparations for SSC exams.
