Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow has decided to drop its 53-year-old Dress Code. Now there will be no dress code for PG students, they will be allowed to wear clothes of their own choice that is they can now wear casuals.
On the other hand UG students will have to wear a black trouser and will have choice to wear plain 'kurti' of their own choice. There are more than 3500 girl students in College. According to principal Neerja Gupta this new rule of no more dress code will take place from the new season.
Now PG students have freedom to choose what they want to wear, but they have to make sure that they look decent. Till now students had to wear slate colour ‘Kurta’ and ‘Salwar’ during college time.
College has the distinction of being the first and the only college in U.P. to hold a convocation for felicitating it's meritorious students in its golden Jubilee year 2013. Navyug, not only impart quality education to economically challenged girls but also make sure that they become part of the vision- to create dedicated and independent individuals with a deep compassion for humanity and a zeal to bring positive change in society.
The principal also said that students only have to ensure that they look good in what they wear and they make sure that they don’t wear ‘deep neck’ or ‘tight fitting’ clothes.
UG students will be allowed to wear only long 'kurtees' with black trousers, if they want they can wear 'stole' with kurta, without any heel in there footwear.
