During Barkatullah University (BU) 2017-18 placements, only 1 per cent of students have managed to bag the placement offer. Out of the 3090 students, only 22 students have managed to bag the job offer during campus placement. Whereas, Indore's Devi Ahilyabai Vishwavidyalaya placement season witnessed a record of 70 per cent.
As per the official report of BU, only 100 students out of a total of 3090 participated in the placement season. Out of which 22 students were given on campus placement and the remaining 68 students got job offers off campus.
On the other hand, students have filed complaints against the university stating that they were not informed about the placement drive on the campus. Students alleged that there are over 20 departments in the university but none of them bothered to inform them about the same.

Some of the students have also complained about the quality of education at the university. According to them, there is a shortage of faculty at the university. Most of the time research scholars take classes instead of faculty members.

Not only does the university lack in the placements but the university is also lagging behind in competitive exams as only 14 students have managed to qualify the GATE and SET exam. The students further said that the university lacks collective efforts.
