Osmania University Paper Re-evaluation Proves to be Unhelpful

After the unsatisfying results of the exams held in May/June 2019, about 2,486 engineering students of Osmania University applied for the revaluation of a paper. It came as shock to the students when none of the 2,486 students was benefited from the process. Students called the whole process ludicrous as not even a single student got additional marks in the exam paper after the revaluation results came out.

The revaluation results of II, IV, VI and backlog V, III, and I semester supplementary examinations were recently posted on the official website of Osmania University. When all the second-semester papers of third-year came out after revaluation, students were aghast to find the discrepancy in the results.

Students were left incredulous to compare each other’s results. They expressed their anger and disappointment that every result was marked ‘Not benefited’ after paying 600 rs per paper for revaluation. One of the students even claimed that the university did not revaluate the papers and directly published the results just for the sake of declaring it.

The Controller of Examinations of Osmania University, Prof Sriram Venkatesh gave technical glitch as the reason behind this discrepancy. The professor further assured that the matter will be looked into by the administration.

As per the evaluation norms of Osmania University that have been followed for the past 60 years, candidates’ grades are increased only if they get a 10 per cent difference of marks on the total allotted marks to the question paper. Now, the students who applied for revaluation by spending 600 rs each are being forced to apply for supplementary examinations.
