The Physical Education of Acharya Nagarjuna University organised a guest lecture on “Role of a teacher in the overall development of a student”. The guest lecture was organized on 8-May-2016 at University auditorium. The guest lecture was organized for PET teachers of Andhra Pradesh who have been getting trained at Acharya Nagarjuna University for the past one week. The Andhra Pradesh Government filled vacant PET teacher posts at various government schools of Andhra Pradesh. So the government gave the responsibility to Acharya Nagarjuna University to train the newly appointed PET’s.
The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Pradeep Raman, Professor, IIIT, Hyderabad. He said that, “Teacher plays an important role in the overall development of a child. It is a teacher who builds self confidence among the children. A PET teacher has to build up courage and self confidence among the children. A teacher must deal with a child in a gentel way rather than punishing them for small mistakes. Children spend most of the time in school so that a teacher must inculcate Respect, Discipline, Time Management, Confidence and interest among studies in the children”.
A total number of 284 PET’s attended the guest lecture. The guest speaker was felicitated by the department.
