Soon an international university related to plastics research will come up at Vapi in Gujarat. The name of the varsity is Plastindia International University. It will be set up with the support of state government. It plans to offer Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (M.Tech) and Doctorate programmes. It will be developed in 37-acres of land.
Vapi is a beautiful place which is located 300 km away from Vadodara. The government is in plans to commence the academic year from 2018. The varsity will also conduct various short duration management development programmes. Plastindia Foundation is sponsoring for the varsity, and it is apex body of India's plastic industry.
The speciality of the varsity is that it will be completely paperless. It will be an eco-friendly and research-driven varsity which will target only one sector. It will meet the requirements of Indian plastics sector.
Currently, there are 50,000 plastic manufacturing units in India and they are short of skilled professionals in the field. Most of these units do not have proper research facilities. Therefore, Plastindia International University will meet the demands of the plastics industry.
Apart from addressing the needs of the plastics industry, the varsity will play a vital role in creating specialized technical and managerial talent for the sector.
Various new institutes and universities are going to come up in Gujarat. For this purpose, a total number of 157 MoUs were signed in the recently held Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. All these MoUs were signed in the field of education. Therefore, the education sector is going to flourish in the state in the coming years.
