
Students, with support from teaching and non-teaching staff of the Pondicherry University, has been continuing the strike on the 5th Day demanding the ouster of incumbent Vice Chancellor Dr. Chandra Krishnamurthy.
The classes remain suspended for its fifth day after students have joined the strike. The staff and students are disappointed after the HRD Ministry turned a blind eye to allegations against the V-C, including plagiarism.
Due to the ongoing protest, police entered the campus Friday and lath charged to the agitating students and professors who are demanding Vice-Chancellor Chandra Krishnamurthy’s dismissal. Several students and professors were also arrested by the Police.
The protest has now turned into a massive and more than 1000 students and staff have joined it. The classes of the University have remained shut since its first day.
Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) unit Secretary R. Rajangam took part in the agitation. They also said action should be initiated against the police personnel who unleashed violence against students who were agitating for a reasonable cause.
