Mr Pranab Mukherjee advocated for reorientation of the education systems to build future innovators and risk-takers in the field of modern technology. The university launched a scholarship named after the Bharat-Ratna awardee.
The former president of India, Mr Pranab Mukherjee has expressed that the Indian education system needs reorientation for producing risk-takers and innovators. He said this while addressing in a special convocation ceremony at the Techno India University, Kolkata. Mr Mukherjee said that education should promote and motivate the student for achieving practical goals in their life.
He said that the advancement of technology and science has made technology an integral part of human life without which, the existence of modern humankind cannot be imagined. He added that the entrepreneurs in business and technological sectors contribute to develop the country by giving the sector a competitive edge and also extend support for effective governance by the authorities.
He made it clear that risk-taking and failure is an inseparable part of science and technology and suggested the students to not be disheartened by failure as it is a learning experience. He advocated for creativity and analytical skills within a person for being a successful innovator for science and technology entrepreneurship sector. According to him, the selection process of students should be based on analytical skills and creativity rather than testing memory which gets stuffed with booking knowledge only.

To honour the Bharat-Ratna Awardee former President Mr Pranab Mukherjee, the University introduces a scholarship scheme on the day as well. An institute official has informed that the meritorious students of the University will be awarded the newly introduced ‘Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee Scholarship’ scheme.
