Presidency University, Kolkata has issued an admission notification for the undergraduate courses for the academic session 2017. The varsity offers 16 UG courses, and the admissions are based on Presidency University Bachelor’s Degree Eligibility Test or PUBDET 2017.
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board or WBJEEB will hold the PUBDET 2017 entrance exam. The online applications will be available on the official site of WBJEEB from February 7, 2017.
The exam dates of PUBDET 2017 have been revised by WBJEEB as the exam dates clashed with CBSE Class 12 examinations. However, Presidency University also made changes in the criterion for short listing the candidates for admission. Earlier, the candidates were shortlisted as per the marks they score in the entrance examination and Class 12 exams. However, this year, the short listing of candidates will be done only as per the marks they score in PUBDET 2017 examination. The marks scored by the candidates in Class 12 will only be taken as an eligibility criterion.
According to new admission policy of Presidency University, the candidates should secure marks more than the prescribed cut-off for the admission to Arts or Science courses. Usually, the cut-off for the science courses is 70%, and arts courses is 60%. Apart from the prescribed cut-off, the candidates should also fulfill the particular academic criterion fixed by Presidency University.
