Private Medical Colleges Disclose Fee Structure for PG Courses under Management Quota

Now, pursuing PG medical course in any private medical college across the country may cost the aspirants around Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 71 lakh per annum. According to data disclosed by private medical colleges, Maharashtra Institute of Medical Sciences and Research charges the highest amount of fee for PG medical courses. The fee at this institutes ranges from Rs. 27 lakh to Rs. 71 lakh under institutional and NRI quotas. The fee changed by this college is eleven times higher than the fee charged from a merit student that is Rs. 6.3 lakh.

Following the order of state governments, private medical colleges in various states disclosed the fee structure under institutional and NRI quotas for the first time ever. The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) had directed all the private medical colleges and deemed universities to disclose their fee structure. Initially, these institutes resisted disclosing the fee structure. However, following the strict orders from the state governments and DMER, the colleges have made fee structure available for the aspirants.

Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation Medical College located in Ahmednagar charges Rs. 6.54 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh from merit students. On the other hand, the institute changes Rs. 62 lakh under NRI quota. Similarly, K.J. Somaiya Medical College charges Rs. 55 lakh under management quota.

In the same way, Kashibai Navale Medical College, Mumbai disclosed the fee structure under management and NRI quota. The institute charges Rs. 47 lakh under management quota, and Rs. 9 lakh under merit category.

There are 2,800 medical seats in Maharashtra, out of which 300 are in private colleges. The fee structure of private medical colleges reveals that medical education has become a costly affair.
